Introduction

Table of contents

ScoreAnalyser is a tool for minigolf players who want to improve their results in an efficient manner. ScoreAnalyser Mobile is the mobile, slimmed down version of ScoreAnalyser for PC. Besides normal ScoreAnalyser functionality (goal analysis and stroke analysis), ScoreAnalyser Mobile also features a unique function that keeps track of standings in team tournaments. With ScoreAnalyser Mobile it is possible to handle only one tournament and one course at a time. To be able to make a more long term analysis you should use ScoreAnalyser for PC, which can handle several tournaments and several courses over a long period of time. Even if it is only possible to handle one tournament at a time you will find ScoreAnalyser Mobile to be very useful. It is handy to have a tool like ScoreAnalyser in your pocket.

Several of the top Swedish players and teams have used this methods for many years. Players using ScoreAnalyser have an advantage over those players that do not analyse their results in a systematic manner.

In broad outline the ScoreAnalyser method is about: setting goals, analysing goals and focusing on things that will improve results in the most efficient way. Read more about the ScoreAnalyser Method.

The ScoreAnalyser Method

Table of contents

There are many ways to improve your results in minigolf. To find things to improve and to implement changes take time. Therefore it is really important to work on the changes that will improve your results most. It is also important to make the right changes and that you can measure how you improve. By using the ScoreAnalyser method you can evaluate and find the things that can be changed and improve your results in the most efficient way.

Is it good to play safe? Which play variants work best? What should you practice? When do you know that you have practice enough? Often, one make the wrong decision because one doesn't have control. ScoreAnalyser is the tool that will give you control. To analyse in your head or by the help of pen and paper is also a way to get control, but these methods have obvious disadvantages compared to ScoreAnalyser.

The ScoreAnalyser method works, there is no doubt about that. Many players and teams have used the ScoreAnalyser method and similar methods to improve their results. Now it is you turn to improve. To be a better minigolfer is a long term task and it can take time before you see results. Even if improvements are a long term task you can make real use of ScoreAnalyser after one day of practice or after a couple of rounds. If you haven't worked with ScoreAnalyser before you will be surprised how much you can improve your results in a short period of time.

One advantage with a tool like ScoreAnalyser is that you can learn to think in the right way in certain situations. One possible scenario for you is to use ScoreAnalyser for some time and improve your game. After that, you will have more knowledge and you will be able to play at a high level without using statistics.

The development of the ScoreAnalyser method is based upon many years of experience in continuous improvements. This work always continues and new methods can evolve and be incorporated in future releases of ScoreAnalyser. The goal is not to introduce more possibilities to record statistics. The goal is that the methods found in the application will be efficient and easy to use. The method will work in real life. Not every one wants to record a lot of statistics and therefore it is possible to record statistics at different levels.

Level 1: Goal Analysis

The first level in ScoreAnalyser is to perform goal analysis. This step is very easy to perform. Although easy to perform you will get a lot of valuable information from the goal analysis. The goal analysis is based upon a goal for every hole on a course. When the goals are set, you play a couple of rounds and let ScoreAnalyser analyse the results. After the analysis you can change the goals but the best way is to look at the holes that are most far from the goal and then think about how to improve the results. Perhaps you change the line you play the hole or practice more on some of the holes. In ScoreAnalyser for PC it is also possible to do hole type analysis when you have played on several courses to see if it always the same hole types you miss. Perhaps you have to invest in new balls for some hole types?

Level 2: Error Analysis

If you want to do a deeper analysis than just look at the results, it is possible to record the kind of errors you make. It could be possible to record every stroke and write down the errors. In ScoreAnalyser this is almost possible but not for every stroke. The reason that you can't record errors for every stroke is that the goal with ScoreAnalyser is: you shall be a better player, not that you shall record as many statistics as possible. If there are simpler methods, to do a deep analysis, than to record errors for every stroke, one should take advantage of this. And there is such a thing in ScoreAnalyser.

If you want to do a deep analysis in ScoreAnalyser you record what kind of errors you make on the first stroke for each hole.  Any following strokes from the tee are technically the same as the initial stroke. To record every stroke from the tee just gives you more statistics but nothing more. The second and following strokes are also affected by information from the first stroke so it isn't really fair to mix these. But every stroke is of equal importance. Shouldn't you record statistics for all strokes? Yes, and you do in ScoreAnalyser because these errors are visible in the goal analysis. And last but not least: when you reach the top, you don't have that many strokes besides the first from the tee.

By recording errors for the first stroke you can get statistics that show systematic errors and what you should practice on most to improve results in the most efficient way.  A systematic error is for example when you hit soft much more often than you hit hard. You should not have any systematic errors because they are unnecessary and easy to get rid of.

By performing error analysis you learn to think of the details and to practice efficiently. You are forced to think of what kind of errors you make and the number of wasted practice strokes disappears dramatically.

Level 3: Putt and Rescue Analysis

There are actually some strokes that differ from the kind of strokes that you make from tee. These are the strokes performed around the hole. It is possible to record these kind of strokes as well. By recording statistics of this you can get information about how often you are faced with situations and how well these situations are handled.

More levels in ScoreAnalyser for PC

In ScoreAnalyser for PC you can analyse play variants, balls, strategy etc.

Use statistics in a good way

Even though you have a powerful tool in your hand, it is also important to use the statistics in the proper way. What's good for you can be hard to know. Think over the goals. Keep track of all changes and see if these lead to improvements or not. Don't give up. Keep working with the best known methods and let ScoreAnalyser be your mentor who never lies to you about your game. Work on the holes with highest variance from the goal. Thus you use your time more efficiently and will be a better minigolfer more quickly.

"Players" shows a list with all the defined players. The players order in the list is the same as shown in [Scorecard] and in [Count +/-]. It is possible to change the order of players. The number of active player can be limited without removing players. If e.g. 3 players are active, then the 3 first in the list are active. Only active players are shown in [Scorecard] and in [Count +/-].

Statistics

Table of contents

"Statistics" shows statistics based upon goals, results and analysis. There are 5 statistic pages that show: player statistics, hole statistics, round statistics, error statistics and detailed error statistics.

Player statistics shows each players total result and average. Best player is placed first in the list. The average value is calculated over 18 holes, which means that you always can relate this to a whole round.

Goal statistics shows results on holes compared to goals. The hole that is easiest to improve results on is shown first. This is one of the main features in the ScoreAnalyser method.

Round statistics shows all players total result and average for each round.

Error statistics shows a summary of the most common errors. Holes must be analysed before this shows anything useful.

Detailed error statistics shows detailed information of the errors. Holes must be analysed before this shows anything useful.

Statistics can be filtered by player, hole and round. If there is an active filter, this filter is shown on top of the screen.

Error analysis

Table of contents

Error analysis can be used by players who want to analyse their play in more detail. You can make great use of ScoreAnalyser without doing error analysis but the statistics derived from it contain very valuable information.

Do you think error analysis takes a lot of time? You'll find how quick and easy it is when you begin to use it You don't have to register everything. Only the first shot on each hole is counted.

It is also possible to register rescue attempts, hole touch, put and mental error.

Error analysis is most easily done with "Auto analyse". With "Auto analyse" the error dialog is shown automatically if a result greater than 2 is registered.

The following can be analysed:

Use up and down to select item to change. Use left (or 8) and right (or 9) to change value.

It is only possible to register one short put miss and one rescue per hole. Mental error can be registered if it has happened to any of the strokes on the hole.
